How to fix Presets window issue after upgrade

After you have upgraded to the latest v2.x , you may experiencing difficulties to display the new presets window. The symptoms may be that the program seems to hang.

In that case, go to Tools->Options and click the "Reset" button.

Answer "Yes" on the following dialog.

After you have re-started the program, the presets window should now show up normally again.

Different uses of Online Radio Tuner: Weather Forecasts

One of our customers mailed us and said she uses the Online Radio Tuner primarily for one thing, to listen to wether forecasts. She asked us to add some weather radio stations in the preset list, which we naturally did. This got us thinking about adding a new benefit for our customers. How about showing weather forecasts in the Album Art information pane?

Forum Converter will be discontinued as a stand alone product solution

In order to guarantee the highest quality of a successful data migration from phpBB and/or Simple Machines Forum, we will offer a complete migration service instead of the stand alone Forum Converter software.

One of the main reasons is that over the years, so many versions exists of both the Community Server CMS and the source systems, phpBB and SMF, so it has started to become a problem to support every scenario.

By offering a migration service, we can complete the data migration in our controlled environment with a better control of the migration process. The result will be a much more confident migration.

How To Record Radio in 2 Easy Steps

This article will guide you through the process of recording your favorite radio station using the Online Radio Tuner. First, if you already haven't done so, download and install the latest Online Radio Tuner from http://www.OnlineRadioTuner.com/ .

1 Find The Radio Station That You Want To Record

This could be done using either the Presets, your Favorites, or finding a radio station from ShoutCast. You can find information on how easy it is to listen to radio stations from ShoutCast here. When you select a preset, a favorite or drag and drop a station from ShoutCast, it will start to play automatically.

2. Start Recording

By just clicking on the Record button, the program will start to record right away.

It's that simple!

How To Stop Recording

Just click on the same Record button again, and the program will stop recording.

So, where do I find my recordings?

By default, they are save in the My Music folder (Windows XP) or Music folder (Windows Vista). You can easily change the location from the Tools->Options->Recording window.

This post should have been published at December 16th 2007 , but a human error made it not published until now. For those of you that uses the programs built-in check for updates feature, you have probably already noticed this new version. Anyhow, here are the fixes and new features:

We have now released a new major version update of the Online Radio Tuner.

Here is a list of changes:

An updated beta of Online Radio Tuner v1.3 is published

Today we have released an updated beta.

In this update we have added the possibility to disable DirectSound hardware sound mixing. In some cases, certain sound card drivers doesn't like this default option, with distorted sound as a result.

If you are experiencing bad sound quality with distortions, try to disable hardware mixing in Tools->Options->Sound.

A quick look at the upcoming Online Radio Tuner v1.3

Here is a little update and teaser about the new features that version 1.3 will have.

Improved Options window

First, the current Tools->Options windows has kind of a boring, non user friendly look, which will be difficult to navigate.

Especially when more and more things are added to configure.

So here is how the improved Tools->Options will look like:

As you can see, to the left is the categories. When they are clicked, the right pane will show the related information about the selected category.

As an example, here is the network settings category:

Recording profiles

In previous versions, the Online Radio Tuner did only record in the MP3 format, at 128kpbs period. Many users requested the ability to record in other formats such as AAC and OGG. So here is the recording profiles category:

You can manage as many profiles as you want. Edit them copy, paste them. Common attributes for them are Name and Recording Folder. (Yes you can now save your AAC recording in a different folder from your MP3 recordings.) They also have unique attributes that relates to their own settings.

These recording profiles can be set on each Favorite too.

And on each Scheduled entry, so you can record your favorites radio show at 07:00 PM each day in an OGG format and in AAC at 04:00 PM.

Report non-working stations

From within the presets window, you can right click and select "Report as non working".

This will be an improvement on keeping the presets up to date by removing all those radio stations that seems to disappear every day.

Windows 64bit compatibility

This has been requested by many users, and the new v1.3 will add support for Windows x64.

The new version 1.3 is currently in the last days of testing, and will be released within the next few days.

Announcing support for 64 bit Windows Vista

In previous posts in the forums, when users have asked for 64 bit Windows support, we have replied that it wouldn't happen until 3rd party products released 64 bit versions of their components. Well, this still is true if we are talking about a pure 64 bit application. But what we have neglected to implement is the possibility to run x86 (32 bit) applications on Windows 64 bit using WOW (Windows on Windows). This is a technology that allows 32 bit applications to run on Windows 64 bit. Up until now, the Online Radio Tuner has been compiled to run on any platform, meaning that if it runs on 64 bit, it will expect any 3rd party components to support 64 bit. But the simple solution is to change our compilation flags to force the application to run in x86 mode. That means that Windows will run the application on WOW. From the upcoming v1.3 release, this will be implemented. See this screen shot that shows Online Radio Tuner running on Windows Vista 64 bit.:
